Today is EDUCATION SUNDAY

On this special Sunday, our Archbishop John Wilson writes:   “On Education Sunday, we join as one in offering our prayers and expressing our deep gratitude for everyone involved in the life of our Catholic schools. Each year, we celebrate the teachers and the staff in our schools who work tirelessly to ensure our young people receive the very best Catholic education. ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH - 1951-2026

Today marks the 75th Anniversary of the Dedication of our much-loved parish church of St Joseph’s. Although no specific celebration has been arranged, we are all invited to have our own celebrations in our homes. Here’s to the next 75!!

This is a small excerpt from the History of the Parish, written by Fr JulianShurgold: “In 1951, the work had been completed, all debts had been paid, and onThursday, September 13th, the new bishop, the Right Reverend Cyril Cowderoy,(1949-1976), solemnly dedicated (or consecrated), the church.”
